Lochcarron Camanachd: Our Players
Most of our players are from the local Wester Ross communities though sadly, the reality of West Highland economics is that three-quarters of our adult players now have to work away from their home. It says much for their commitment to the community and to shinty that they are willing to travel back here every other weekend.
Most of our locally-based players are drawn from the traditional occupations of the Highlands, fishing, stalking, crofting and forestry, while the club’s business sponsors reflect the importance of salmon farming and tourism in the area. Currently, we have forty-four senior players, and another forty juniors, girls and boys, a significant proportion of the young people from the local villages.
